About Me

I studied Art History at the University of California at San Diego and had the opportunity to spend one year abroad in Barcelona, Spain.  That visit provided a jumping off point to see not only the ‘usual suspects of art’ on the grand tour (Paris, Florence, London), but more obscure, and arguably more influential spots such as Colliure, the birth place of Fauvism.  The concept of equating ‘artist’ with ‘colorist’ is a theme that run throughs my work – regardless of the medium or subject matter  – color is the constant in every piece.  Particularly with watercolor, I pride myself on letting my colors emerge naturally through the inherent qualities of the medium.  I mix colors directly on the paper rather than blending on my palette, letting the properties of water carry the medium together to merge and create surprising and pleasing results.
